Welcome to the
Schwulst Family Network
hosted by
William R. Schwulst
The purpose of this Web site
is to provide information to people who are members of the Schwulst
family. Information provided by my father's research is that all
Schwulsts are related. That we are all descended from one
person. This is based on the statement that the name was
changed from Geschwulst, in Germany, about 250 years ago. Read new
information on this below. This site and page were established in March of 2001. Initially, this is just a welcome page. In time there will be links to information on the many branches of our family tree. If you want to post information about your branch, visit often, and watch for changes to this page. Finally, you probably found this page by doing a search on the family name. If you received the same results I did, there is some really interesting information about many family members all over the Web. Have you seen how many Schwulsts are in South Africa? |
New Information
To those of you who have found this site, thank you for your interest, and thank you for checking back. It has been awhile since anything has been posted here, and there is a reason. The idea of the site is to act as a repository of the family tree. Schwulst family members from all over the world would provide as much information about themselves and their known descendents that they have. Eventually, all Schwulsts would have a map of how they are connected to each other and our ancestor who changed the name. My concern, the reason the project has been stalled, is the concern of identity theft. I don't want this site to be a source of information for a thief. I would very much like to see this project go forth, but I am not sure if you are willing to provide your family relationships. I know I am reluctant. Maybe I am just too paranoid. After all, the information would only be: name, date of birth, date of death, and who the persons father is/was. It would not include any other information that a thief would need, like social security number, address, or any other identifying information. I would not even want to include maiden names of the wives, because banks often use a mothers maiden name as an identifier. One idea would be to protect the information in the family tree from anyone that is not a Schwulst. The problem here is knowing who is and who is not a Schwulst descendant. I mean, how do you even know who I am, and can you trust me. How do I prove to you I am who I say I am? New information added May 2003. Originally, I had spelled this as Gaschwulst, based on pronunciation. An E-mail note I received from a Schwulst who lives in the former East Germany says that Schwulst is older than Geschwulst. I do not know what to say about this. You can read the note here. New information added December 2004. Originally, this site was setup to as a contact point for members of the Schwulst family. I have received a couple of responses over the last three years, but not many. Most likely this is a result of few from the family using the Internet, and few searching and finding the site. You can still E-mail me, and I will respond to your inquires. Over the years, I have used this site to support classes I was teaching at the local technical college, and to create pages for classes I was taking. Now, I am embarking on a new career during my last working years before retirement. Unable to find a job in the computer field, in my area, I have taken a job as an over the road truck driver. I will now use this site as a platform for a Blog of my driving experiences. You can access the Blog here. I am getting mostly junk mail at the E-mail address that I had posted here, so I shut it down. I may put up another address in the future. Thank you, William R Schwulst Sr. |
